Insert the dust plug into the fiber port.
Installing and removing a PoE optical
transceiver module, fiber PoE patch cord,
or fiber PoE pigtail
Installation procedure
CAUTION:
A PoE optical transceiver module supplies power or receives power through the conductive
terminals. To avoid damage to the conductive terminals, follow these restrictions and guidelines:
•
Insert PoE optical transceiver modules only into the photoelectric hybrid ports (PSFP or PSFP+
ports).
•
Insert only PELC connectors into the PoE optical transceiver modules. When you connect the
device to the network, use fiber PoE patch cords or fiber PoE pigtails.
CAUTION:
To avoid damage to the joint, secure a photoelectric hybrid cable to the fiber patch panel
immediately after you connect the photoelectric hybrid cable to a PoE optical transceiver module.
The procedure is the same for connecting a fiber PoE patch cord or fiber PoE pigtail to a PoE
optical transceiver module. The following procedure uses a fiber PoE patch cord as an example.
To connect a fiber PoE patch cord to a PoE optical transceiver module:
1.
Install a PoE optical transceiver module. The installation procedure is the same for PoE optical
transceiver modules and bail latch transceiver modules. For more information, see "
2.
As shown by callout 1 in
, remove the dust caps from the fiber PoE patch cord.
3.
As shown by callout 2 in
, insert one end of the fiber PoE patch cord into the PoE
optical transceiver module.
