3.8.2 Connecting the Console Cable
I. Connecting the Console terminal to the IX1000
Perform these steps to connect the console cable:
1) Plug the DB-9 female connector of the console cable to the serial port of the PC or
terminal on which you are going to configure your IX1000.
2) Connect the RJ-45 connector of the console cable to serial port 1 of your IX1000.
II. Connecting the UPS to the IX1000
Perform these steps to connect the console cable:
1) Plug the DB-9 female connector of the console cable to the serial port of the UPS.
2) Connect the RJ-45 connector of the console cable to serial port 2 of your IX1000.
Note:

A PC serial port does not support in-service connection/disconnection of a cable;
therefore, do not plug/unplug the console cable into/from the PC with your IX1000
powered on.

To connect the PC to your IX1000 via a console cable, you should connect the DB-9
female connector of the console cable to the serial port of the PC before connecting
the RJ-45 connector of the console cable to serial port 1 of your IX1000.

To remove the console cable that connects the PC to your IX1000, unplug the RJ-45
connector of the console cable before unplugging the DB-9 connector of the console
cable from the PC.
3.9 Recommendations on Cabling
3.9.1 For Rack-mounting an IX1000
If an IX1000 is mounted in a standard 19-inch rack, the service cables are routed
