The Camera Phasing submenu displays the phase relationship of the connected
cameras. This feature is especially useful during installation of the system to provide
the capability to monitor the phase of each of the cameras while they are being
adjusted. The displayed phase difference numbers indicate the number of horizontal
video lines that the applicable camera input signal is offset from the reference.
Ideally, after the camera adjustments are made, the menu displays all zeros for all the
active camera inputs (except for the Reference camera); however, properly adjusted
systems may typically show one or two video lines of offset. This depends on factors
such as the type of camera used, how accurately the adjustment is made, and how
much the camera signal(s) drift relative to the reference camera (it is not unusual for
the camera signals to drift plus or minus a video line).
Inactive camera inputs can be identified in this menu by noting which cameras have
dashes displayed in place of the number of horizontal video lines.
Normally, when the VCR is in menu mode for more than five minutes without any
activity (i.e., no programming changes have been made or new menus accessed) it
times out and the menus are automatically exited. However, this time has been
increased from five minutes to approximately 45 minutes for the Camera Phasing
menu.
The default setting has the first available input camera set as the Reference (REF)
camera. The menu is constantly updated to indicate the phase relationship of the active
inputs as compared to this reference camera. The camera that is used as the reference
can be changed while in the Camera Phasing menu. Press the PROGRAM button;
“REF” will be highlighted. Press the NEXT or PREVIOUS buttons to move the
reference to the desired camera number and then press the PROGRAM button again.
Highlighting will disappear and the reference camera changed.
