The Importance of Maintenance
Regular
maintenance
is
essen al
to
ensure
your
snow
blower
con nues
to
deliver
safe
and
high
‐
quality
performance.
To
help
you
properly
care
for
your
snow
blower,
the
following
pages
include
a
recommended
maintenance
schedule,
rou ne
inspec on
procedures,
and
simple
maintenance
procedures
using
basic
hand
tools.
Maintenance
is
the
responsibility
of
the
owner
and
must
be
performed
regularly.
More
di
ffi
cult
service
tasks
or
tasks
that
require
special
tools
are
best
handled
by
a
recommended
service
technician
or
other
quali
fi
ed
mechanic.
The
maintenance
schedule
described
on
page
21
applies
to
snow
blowers
used
under
normal
opera ng
condi ons.
If
you
operate
your
snow
blower
under
severe
condi ons,
such
as
sustained
prolonged
use
or
use
it
in
unusually
wet,
dusty
or
rocky
condi ons,
consult
your
servicing
dealer
for
recommenda ons
applicable
to
your
individual
needs
and
use.

CAUTION!
Before
making
any
adjustments
and/or
servicing
to
your
BEAST
Snow
Blower
,
make
sure
the
snow
blower
is
on
a
level
surface,
with
the
igni on
switch
o
ff
,
the
key
removed,
and
the
augers
disengaged.
Also,
disconnect
the
spark
plug
wires
from
the
spark
plugs
and
ground
them
against
the
engine
to
prevent
inadvertent
star ng.
If
you
are
performing
adjustments
or
maintenance
a er
opera ng
the
snow
blower,
allow
the
unit
to
cool
and
always
wear
protec ve
clothing.
Check Oil Level
CHECK
ENGINE
OIL
BEFORE
EACH
USE.
Add
oil
as
needed
according
to
dips ck
level.
Change
oil
as
recommended
on
page
21
and
follow
proper
procedures
to
check
and
change
oil.
CAUTION: Always wear work gloves when performing
impeller and collector maintenance and beware of
sharp edges. Be sure the engine is o
ff
, the key
removed, and the spark plug wires are disconnected
from the spark plugs to prevent inadvertent star ng.
CAUTION
Check Skid Shoes
Check
the
skids
to
ensure
that
the
auger
does
not
contact
the
paved
or
gravel
surface.
Adjust
skids
as
necessary
to
make
up
for
wear
on
the
snow
blower
skid
shoe
surface.
Adjust
skid
shoes
to
have
1/4”
clearance
across
the
scrapper
blade
to
reduce
forces
during
turning
and
maneuvering.
Replacement
skid
shoes
are
available
for
purchase
through
GXi
Parts
&
Service.

Shear Bolts
Check
shear
bolts
(as
well
as
other
bolts)
at
frequent
intervals
for
proper
ghtness
to
be
sure
the
equip
‐
ment
is
in
safe
working
condi on.
Do
NOT
use
standard
bolts
to
replace
shear
bolts.
Severe
damage
or
injury
could
occur.
Warranty
is
also
void
if
shear
bolts
are
not
used.

bolts
are
available

replacement
through

Service.

Allow
the
machine
to
run
with
the
impeller
engaged
for
a
few
minutes
a er
blowing
snow
to
prevent
freeze
‐
up
of
the
augers/impeller.
