Protective earth check for devices of protection class I
With devices of protection class I (devices with protective earth and non
protective insulated metal housing parts), carry out the protective earth
check for these devices every work day. Only put such devices into service
when the check showed that the protective earth was in correct working
order.
Check the protective earth as follows
(Position of the test device

Start the drive unit.
Only perform the check when the generator is running.
>
Switch on the main switch on the switch cabinet.
>
Insert the device to the checked into the switch cabinet (with an extension
cable where necessary).
>
Insert the test line to the test socket of the switch cabinet
>
Fix the probe of the test line to a corresponding testing point on the
device (e.g. metallic housing part).
>
If the protective earth connection is OK, the signal lamp of the test device
will light up.
