Terminal C in Fig. 7.2 is the ground connection.
At L (Low) level, the terminals X, Y, Z are connected to ground via
terminal C.
6.1 Activating the Service Test Mode
– The Service Test Mode can be activated from all the other functions
but the Standby mode.
– With the power On, press the Clear button on the remote control
handset for more than 15 seconds.
6.2 Service Test Mode Functions
– By pressing button

on the local keyboard or

on the remote
control handset, the operating modes can be changed in the loading
direction from EJECT to FF/REW.
At the same time the individual operating mode appears in the
display as a hexadecimal figure. The tape drum motor and the
capstan motor (Pos. 70500) will not rotate.
– By pressing the button

on the local keyboard or
D
on the remote
control handset, the operating modes can be changed in the
unloading direction from FF/REW to EJECT.
At this time, the tape drum motor will not rotate but the capstan motor
(Pos. 70500) will rotate in the direction in which the tape is wound by
the supply reel.
Note:
When checking the mechanism mode positions without a
cassette being loaded take care that the opening lever for
the cassette lid (Pos. 040E) is unlocked (Fig. 5.1).
6.3 Terminating the Service Test Mode
– To leave the Service Test Mode press the
A
button.
– Afterwards, normal operations can be performed.
