Radio reception conditions
Reception conditions change constantly while you are driving.
Mountains, buildings or bridges can all disturb reception. This is
particularly true when you are farther away from the station.
Radio Data System (RDS)
RDS is an information system offered by most FM broadcasters
which transmits its signals along with the radio programme . If an
RDS programme is received, the station name appears in the dis-
play, e.g. »
ANTENNE
«. An RDS programme is broadcast by several
stations on different frequencies (alternative frequencies). If an RDS
programme is selected, the radio changes automatically to the alter-
native frequency giving best reception, provided such a frequency is
available.
Enhanced Other Network (EON)
The EON function enables you to hear traffic announcements even
if an RDS programme without own traffic programme is being
received. However, this is only possible if the station which broad-
casts the selected RDS programme with EON broadcasts also a
further RDS programme with traffic announcements. In addition, the
traffic announcement standby (TP) must be activated on the radio.
Maintenace and Care
The front panel of the car radio must only be cleaned with a soft,
dust-absorbent, anti-static cloth. Polishing and cleansing agents
may damage the surface of the trimplate.
The tape head must be free of tape dust in order to avoid losses in
the treble tones during playback. Therefore you should clean the
tape head with a cleaning cassette after every 50–100 hours of
operation.
Cassettes must not be subjected to high temperatures and should be
put into their case after use.
