Swapping or Replacing a Gridstore Storage Node in a vStore
When a Gridstore Storage Node in a vStore has had a hardware failure, you can swap it out and
replace it with another. The new one will need to be configured, but will take on the role of the
Gridstore Storage Node it replaced.
Depending on the issue, the Gridstore Storage Node with the hardware failure displays in the vStore
with a Core Service status of Offline or Fault. The Gridstore Storage Node must be in one of
these two states to access the Swap/Replace function.
1.
First, add the replacement Gridstore Storage Node to your Grid by setting it up in your
datacenter and then configuring it. For steps, see
Adding Gridstore Storage Nodes to an
on pg. 16.
Tip:
If you do not want to stop your vStore when swapping or replacing a storage node, be
sure to assign an IP address that is in the same subnet as the Gridstore Storage Node you
are replacing when you configure the new Gridstore Storage Node.
2.
In the left navigation tree of GridControl, navigate to the vStore that contains the Gridstore
Storage Node that you would like to replace. To do so:
•
Click the plus sign next to
vPools to expand it.
•
Click the plus sign next to the vPool that contains the appropriate vStore, to expand that
vPool.
•
Click the plus sign next to
vStores to expand it.
3.
Select the appropriate vStore so that you can view the vStore and the Gridstore Storage
Nodes it contains.
4.
In the vStore window to the right, right-click on the Gridstore Storage Node in the list that you
would like to replace, and select Swap or Replace from the short-cut menu.
Note:
The Gridstore Storage Node must have a Core Service status of Offline or Fault.
