Preparation of Openings

•  Frame wall openings as shown below (

see Figure 1, 2, and 2A

).

•  Gypsum wall board must be fastened 12 in. (305 mm) on center to all stud and runner flanges surrounding opening.
•  Prepare opening between studs and sleeve assembly as shown below (

see Figure 3 & 4

).

•  All construction and fasteners must meet the requirements of the appropriate wall design (See UL Fire Resistance 

Directory) and/or local codes.
