and 3 manuals.
1. Power up the seed monitor. Clear or resolve any
alarms. The system is in User Level 1.
2. Change monitor to User Level 2. See PDC manual,
or consult with dealer for procedure.
3. At the monitor main menu, press the Row Monitor
key, then push the Row I/O key. Change the
POP/Block pattern to EVERY ROW BLOCKAGE.
Add at least one volumetric seed to the monitor’s
Material Library. Settings for volumetric have differences
from settings for singulated seeds.
4. At the monitor main menu, press the Control Setup
key.
5. Select and press a key associated with an undefined
or unused material. For example: MATRL 7 could be
renamed to HRW Wheat.
6. Change Type to GRAN SEED MONITOR.
7. Change Units to Lb/ac with lb/hr.
8. Enter the desired Target Rate. The Target Rate
establishes the desired rate of application in pounds
per acre.
9. Density is the value provided by the seed supplier.
Enter that value.
10. Enter the number of seeds per pound.
11. Set the High Pop Alarm to 20%. This is the rate
above target population that triggers an alarm.
12. Set the Low Pop Alarm to 20%. This is the rate
below target population that triggers an alarm.
13. ON/OFF Pattern should be set to EVERY ROW ON
unless planting split rows.
14. Set Row Fail Rate to 2/1 (2 seeds every 1 second).
This is the blockage detection threshold.
15. Press the CTRL SETUP key to return to the Control
Setup menu. Set up any additional seeds as desired.
16. Press the material labeled Split Air.
17. Reset the target rate to the meter pressure
suggested by the charts beginning on page 98
(typically 2.0 or 2.5 inches of water pressure).
18. Press the Work Screen key to return to the main
menus.
19. Find the Range Sprockets and Transmission
Sprockets on the rate chart for the seeding rate
desired.
20. Set the seed inlet shutters to 2, see planter Operator
manual for details.
21. Engage the hydraulic fan, and set it at operating
speed, see planter Operator manual for details.
22. Press the Row Fill key. This diverts all split air to
seed delivery. Remain in this mode until no more
seed is flowing to the meters.
23. Lower planter down and drive forward a short
distance to fill the seed disks.
24. Plant for a short distance, then go to the “
” on page 91 and follow the
instructions for checking seeding rates.
