Seed Delivery Problems - Bulk Seed

Planter Troubleshooting
Problem Cause Solution
Single row does not fill
or keep up with other
rows.
Drop tube to meter is too long causing seed
to pool and plug hose
Shorten hose length while the planter is
raised and the row units lowered. This will
ensure the hose is not too short.
Debris in seed at air box or in seed hose Check for debris and clean as needed.
Multiple rows fail for
lack of seed.
Fan speed too high or too low Check and adjust fan speed. See “ Fan
Adjustment ” on page 34.
Out of seed Add seed.
Single or multiple
hoses plugging just
ahead of air box.
Fan speed too high or too low Check and adjust fan speed. See “ Fan
Adjustment ” on page 34.
Possible air leak Check for air leak downstream between the
air box and top of meter.
All rows fail.
Lack of seed Fan speed too high. Adjust fan speed. See
“ Fan Adjustment ” on page 34.
Did not perform
Fill Disk operation
Perform
Fill Disk operation.
Extremely high populations may require
slightly reduced field speed.
1, 2, 3, or more outlets
fail -
Outlets can be
side-by-side or random.
Plugging may also move

heavily treated seed.
Seed treatment sticky Add Ezee Glide Plus to seed to dry out seed
treatment. See “ Close lids and latches. ”

Treatment mixed unevenly and plugging
outlets
Clean out seed and re-mix.
Problem Cause Solution
Planter does not fold
or unfold fully.
Air in lines Rephase hydraulic cylinder. See
“ Unfolding ” on page 22.
AUX selector valve set to AUX Set valve to MARKERS. See “ Rear
Auxiliary Hydraulics (Option) ” on
page 16.
Row unit disks not
turning freely.
Row unit plugged with dirt Clean row unit.
Planting conditions too wet Wait until drier weather.
Incorrect side depth wheel adjustment Adjust side depth wheel. See “ Move the
T-handle back (B) or deeper planting. ” on
page 48.
Failed disk bearings Replace disk bearings.
Bent or twisted row unit frame Replace row unit frame.
Partially plugged seed tube Lift up planter, expose bottom of seed tube
and clean out.
