PL5200 Planter
Preparation and Setup
spacers should be equal on both the left arm and
the right arm.
2. Add a combination of the remaining spacers to
eliminate any slack space on the left pin (5), and
minimize side-to-side play during operations.
3. Secure left arm (1) with both sets of spacers with
the provided bolts and nuts.
4. On the right arm (6), insert the necessary
amount of open-end spacers (3) to the left of the
smaller tube spacer (4) until you have aligned
center-lines of the planter and tractor. The
amount of spacers should be equal on both the
left arm and the right arm.
5. Add a combination of the remaining spacers to
eliminate any slack space on the right pin (2),
and minimize side-to-side play during operations.
6. Secure right arm (6) with both sets of spacers
with the provided bolts and nuts.
Twin Row to Single Row Conversion

planting operations on a twin row planter.
3-Point Hitch Top Link
On 3-point hitches, the top link controls the angle at
which the planter is relative to the ground.
3-Point Side-Shift Hitch Top Link
On side-shift 3-point hitches, the top link controls the
angle at which the planter is relative to the ground. It
will be necessary to side-shift the tractor upper arm
to on the planter top link hitch pin for single row
planting. See “
” on page 34 for 3-point side-shift hitch
top link adjustment for single row planting operations
on a twin row planter.
Hitch Tracking Alignment
For proper row unit tracking in the field, the planter
frame must be set correctly to the tractor line of pull.
Occasionally a one-time alignment adjustment may
be needed on the hitch if tracking alignment is a
problem. Two hitch shim plates are provided for each
planter hitch for this alignment adjustment. Shim
plates may be added, or removed, to the left arm, as
needed.
1. Loosen all 8 or 12 bolts (1) on the left arm where
a slim needs to be added or removed.
2. Loosen jam nuts and the two set screws (2).
3. Add or remove hitch shim plates (3), as needed.
4. Back out set screws (2) in until the hitch can be
tighten. Secure the jam nuts.
5. Tighten all 8 or 12 bolts (1) to torque. See
Height Switch
On planters with a 3-point hitch, it is necessary to
install the height switch on the tractor in a location
where the whisker will make contact with the tractor
lift arms.
Crushing Hazard
Exercise extreme caution when adjusting the height
switch. You may be severely injured or killed by being
crushed by the planter and its components.
When the hydraulic drive planter is raised,
the switch state is ignored during FILL DISK
and 5 REV TEST operations. See your
console manual for more information.
