Chapter 7 – Wireless (WLAN Interface)
7.5.1.6 Blacklist Timer
If the connection to an AP fails, this AP is initially locked for a certain time. This block
-
ing time can be set with the parameter
Blacklist Timer
. The time is specified in sec
-
onds. A value of
0
means that the timer never expires and thus a connection to the
APs in the list is possible only after a reset of the HG G
7.5.2 Background Scanning
Starting with firmware 2.12r, the radio modem can use information supplied by the
connected access point according to the IEEE
802.11k
standard. This 802.11k stan
-
dard defines how information regarding the existing neighbor APs is provided by the
AP. This information is available if the WLAN system supports this standard and this
option is enabled for the corresponding SSID.
The radio modem can then request a list of suitable neighbor access points from the
connected access point, which could potentially be used as new stations in further
movement. With this information, the radio modem can more effectively scan for
other matching APs. The following options can be selected:
7.5.3 Connection Watchdog
This is an option to monitor the WLAN connection. This is intended to detect a ter
-
mination of the WLAN connection by registering the received data packets. If no in
-
coming data packets are registered within a certain time, a reassessment of the pos
-
sible connections is carried out after a scan. This option should only be enabled if the
application generates regular traffic over the wireless connection on the LAN clients.
7.5.4 Ping Test

Ping
The ping test function is essential
-
ly an error detection function. If,
during operation, and especially
after a change of the AP (roam
-
ing), longer interruptions of the
WLAN connection should occur,
this fault can be documented in
the debug log with this function.
In this case it also possible, by re
-
setting and restarting the WLAN connection, to try to resolve the outage.

Include advanced
information
The radio modem uses the current AP list
and
the 802.11k
list to select the channels on which to search for neighboring
APs.
Only scan channels
from neighbor infor
-
mation
The channels to be scanned are selected
only
from the
802.11k list.
Ignore neighbor
information
The 802.11k list from the AP is
not
taken into account.
