The parameters in this page are described as follows:
Field
Description
Enable Wan
Select the
Enable Wan
check-box to enable a WAN
connection.
Service Type
Set the service type.
IP address
Enter the WAN IP address provided by the ISP. The
parameter must be entered.
Subnet mask
Enter the WAN subnet mask provided by the ISP. It
varies with the network type. It is usually
255.255.255.0 (Class C).
Default Gateway IP
Enter the IP address of the gateway provided by the
ISP. It is the IP address used for connecting to the ISP.
PPTP Server
Enter the PPTP server.
PPTP ID
Enter the PPTP ID. This parameter must be entered.
PPTP Password
Enter the password for PPTP dialup provided by the
ISP. This parameter must be entered.
Confirm Password
Enter the password again to confirm it.
Authentication Method
You can set the authentication method to
AUTO
,
PAP
,
CHAP
, and
MS-CHAP
.
MTU
Set the maximum transmission unit. The default value
is recommended.
Enable Nat
Network Address Translation (NAT) determines how
the router processes inbound traffic. Secured NAT
provides a secured firewall to protect the computers on
the LAN from attacks from the Internet, but might
prevent some Internet games, point-to-point
applications, or multimedia applications from
functioning. Open NAT provides a much less secured
firewall, but allows almost all Internet applications to
function.
Nat Type
Set the NAT type. Two NAT types are available:
SymmetricNat
and
ConeNat
.
