ASSEMBLY
NOTICE: All seals and Internal components
should be lubricated with power steering flu
id GM P/N 1050017 or equivalent (meeting
GM Spec. No. 9985010) before assembly,
unless otherwise noted.
BALL BEARING DIRECT DRIVE DESIGN
Install or Connect (Figures 1 and 10)

1. Drive pin (182) into the shaft (166).
2. Carrier (183) in the proper direction (figure 10).
PUMPS AND SHAFTS
Assemble (Figures 1, 8, and 9)
1. New seal (167) (steel cage side out) into the bush
ing body (169) assembly. Using a socket or steel
tubing about the size of the seal OD to press the
seal to the bottom of the bore. Use care not to
distort the seal case. ■

A. Lubricate the seal (167) and bushing body
(169) GM P/N 1050017 or equivalent (meeting
GM Spec.; No. 9985010)
B. Install the shaft bearing subassembly (164 and
166) into the bushing body (169), using caution
not to damage the shaft seal lip.
C. Install the snap ring (163) (figure 8).
2. New seals (178 and 179).
A. Install seal (178) into the bottom of each kidney
shaped seal gland in the end plate (177).
B, Install the square cross-section seal (179) into
each gland on top, of seal (178). All seals fit
tightly to the gland wall.
3. End plate (177) with seals (178 and 179) and locat
ing pin (176) into the body as noted at the time of
disassembly (figure 9).
4. Port plate (180). Align the OD port and the end
plate (177).
5. Cam (181) into the pump body pocket positioned
over the locating pin (176).
• Lubricate the face of the port plate (180), bush
ing body (169), and ID wall of the cam (181).
BUSHING DIRECT DRIVE DESIGN
Install or Connect (Figures 1 and 10)
• Lubricate the seal (167) and bushing (169) with
pojwer steering fluid GM P/N 1050017 or equivalent
(meeting GM Spec. No. 9985010).
• Carrier and shaft assembly into the pump body,
using care not to damage the shaft seal lip.

Assemble (Figure 1)
NOTICE: For steps 9 and 12, See “Notice” on
page\3B2-1.
1. Roller vanes (184) into the carrier (183).
• Lubricate the carrier face and shaft with power
Steering fluid GM P/N 1050017 or equivalent
(meeting GM Spec. No. 9985010).
2. Seals (185, 187) to the body face grooves at the
cam: pocket and flow by-pass hole. ■

• Lubricate the cover face and bushing (188) with
power steering fluid GM P/N 1050017 or equiv
alent (meeting GM Spec. No. 9985010).
3. Bushirig . cover (188) to the bushing body (169)
over the shaft (166) and locating pins (176).
• Lubricate the valve bore with power steering
fluid GM P/N 1050017 or equivalent (meeting
|GM Spec. No. 9985010).
4. Control valve (190) to the bore with the long small
diameter end in first.
5. Spring (191) to the valve bore.
