APO Operating Modes

The APO system can be used in two dif-

ferent modes — normal and continuous.

Normal

Mode

Use the nor-

mal mode

while the

vehicle is

being driven.

Activating the Normal Mode

1. Start the engine.

2. Press the APO button once. The

indicator light will illuminate.

3. Connect an electrical device to an

APO.

The APO system will operate in the nor-

mal mode until the driver turns it off by

pressing the APO button or turning the

ignition switch to Lock.

senger’s side. These outlets can operate

most auxiliary electrical equipment and

devices.

Resetting the System

If table saws, certain air compressors

and other equipment are used that

exceed the maximum power limit of

2,400 watts, a 20-amp protection circuit

will safely cut the power supply. A light

next to the APO button, located on the

center of the instrument panel, will flash

and 120V OVERLOAD will be displayed

on the Driver Information Center. If this

occurs, press the APO button to reset

the system.

See your Hybrid Owner Manual Supplement.

Continuous Mode

Use the continuous mode only with the

vehicle in Park. The engine will run con-

tinuously to supply electrical power to

the APO system. The vehicle can be

used as a generator to power critical

appliances when electrical power outlets

are not available.

The engine will be running but the vehi-

cle cannot be driven, and most vehicle

electrical systems, including the climate

control fan, windshield wipers and radio,

will be disabled. The key also can be

removed from the ignition while in the

continuous mode.

Activating the Continuous Mode

1. Place the transmission in Park with

the ignition in Run and the engine

running.

2. Press and hold the APO button for at

least two seconds. The indicator light

will flash and 120V READY will be

displayed on the Driver Information

Center.

3. Turn the ignition key to Lock while the

light is flashing. The light will flash for

30 seconds and then remain on. The

engine will continue to run.

4. Connect an electrical device to

an APO. Use only UL

®

approved

extension cords, if needed.

5. Remove the key from the ignition,

if desired.

Note:

Never connect the APO system

outlets directly to a building’s circuitry or

another power supply.
