10. Gira S1 Windows client

The Gira S1 Windows client is an application that is installed on a computer, which can be used to 
access devices on the remote network securely over the Internet if the HTTP protocol is not used. The 
Gira S1 Windows client is not required for accessing websites on the remote network using a web 
browser, see chapter 3.4 “Access to websites on the remote network”.
The most typical use cases for the Gira S1 Windows client include:
• Accessing KNX installations via the KNX/IP or the Eiblib/IP protocol.
• Configuring a Gira HomeServer with the Expert.
In addition, the Gira S1 supports the use of many other TCP-based IP protocols such as Microsoft's 
Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) for remote access to a Windows computer.
The Gira S1 Windows client is currently available for Microsoft Windows versions 7 and higher. You 
can find the current version at www.download.gira.de.

10.1. Installation

Start the installation of the Gira S1 Windows client by double-clicking the installation file. During the 
course of the installation, the following dialog appears:

The “Add firewall exception” option must remain activated so that the Gira S1 Windows client works 
without errors.
