The fixture controlled by the Wi-Fi Smart Dimmer must not
exceed 600W (incandescent); 150W dimmable CFL/LED.
1.
3-way dimmer wiring
IMPORTANT!
3 -way switches can be wired in different
ways. These instructions explain the most
common method. If you have difficulty with
the instructions or your home wiring, contact a
licensed electrician for assistance.
1. Shut off power to the circuit breaker or fuse box.
IMPORTANT!
Verify power to switch
is OFF before continuing.
2. Remove line side wallplate.
3. Remove mounting screws to
existing line side switch.
4. Carefully remove switch from switch
box. DO NOT disconnect wires yet.
5. Identify black wire (line) connected
to circuit breaker, attached to
black screw. Label wire “line.”
6. Identify red wire (typically) also
connected to load side, attached to
other brass screw. Label “traveler 1.”
7. Identify black wire connected to load side,
attached to brass screw. Label wire “traveler 2.”
Single-switch wiring
Removing existing switch
Before installation, you may wish to change
the paddle color to match your wallplate
or décor. Please return to section 3.
A. Shut off power to the circuit at
circuit breaker or fuse box.
IMPORTANT!
Verify power to switch box is OFF
before continuing.
B. Remove wallplate.
C. Remove the switch mounting screws.
D. Carefully remove the switch from the
switch box. DO NOT disconnect the wires.
Up to five screw terminals on the switch are
marked:
a. GROUND — Green/Bare.
b. LOAD — Black (connected to lighting).
c. LINE (Hot) — Black (connected to power).
d. TRAVELER — Red.
e. NEUTRAL — White.
Match these screw terminals to the wires
connected to the existing switch.
E. Disconnect the wires from the existing
switch. Label wires according to the
previous terminal connection.
Installation
Wire strip length:
Strip insulation for attachment 5/8in. (16mm).
UL specifies the tightening torque for
the screws is 12lbf-in (14Kgf-cm).
F. Connect the green or bare copper
ground wire to the ground terminal.
I. Connect the black wire from the
light to the load terminal.
II. Connect the black wire from the electrical
service panel (hot) to the line terminal.
III. Connect the white wire to the neutral
terminal. Use a jumper wire if needed.
Often, the neutral wire can be found in the
back of the switch box. There may be
several neutral wires bound together with
a wire nut.
Note:
The traveler terminal is only used for
3-way installations.
IV. Insert dimmer into the switch box being
careful not to pinch or crush wires.
G. Secure the switch to the box
using the supplied screws.
H. Reapply power to the circuit at fuse box or
circuit breaker. The blue indicator light under
the ON/OFF paddle should blink rapidly.
If the blue light is not blinking, first ensure
the air gap switch is in ON position (right).
If the blue light is still not blinking, turn off
the breaker, verify there is no power to the
Wi-Fi dimmer, switch the wires in the line
and load terminals, and tighten the screws.
Mount the wallplate and reapply power to
the circuit at fuse box or circuit breaker.

Prepare line side for new 3-way connection
1. Disconnect black wire marked “line” from
the black screw and the other black wire
labeled “traveler 2” from brass screw.
2. Use the provided wire nut to connect
the two black wires with one of the
included white jumper wires.
3. Connect the free end of the white jumper wire
to the black screw (hot) on the existing switch.
4. Carefully replace the switch back into
the switch box. Ensure the wires are
not pinched or crushed. Secure the
switch using the mounting screws.
Installing the Wi-Fi dimmer on the load side
1. Remove load side wallplate.
2. Remove existing switch from load side
switch box. DO NOT disconnect wires yet.
3. Identify black wire connected to the load (light
fixture) attached to black screw. Label as “load.”
4. Identify red wire from line side, attached
to bass screw. Label wire “traveler 1.”
5. Identify black wire coming from line
side. Label wire “traveler 2.”
6. Locate neutral wires inside switch box.
Connect the other included white jumper wire
to neutral wire bundle. Label wire “neutral.”
7. Disconnect black wire labeled “load” and
connect to load terminal on Wi-Fi dimmer.
8. Disconnect red wire labeled “traveler 1” and
connect to traveler terminal on Wi-Fi terminal.
9. Disconnect black wire labeled “traveler 2” and
connect to line terminal on Wi-Fi dimmer.
10. Connect free end of white jumper wire
to neutral terminal on Wi-Fi dimmer.
11. Disconnect green or copper wire and connect
to ground terminal on Wi-Fi dimmer.
12. Carefully place the Wi-Fi dimmer back
into the switch box. Ensure the wires
are not pinched or crushed. Secure in
place using the mounting screws.
13. Turn on circuit breaker or fuse box.
14. Verify the blue indicator LED on Wi-Fi dimmer
blinks rapidly. If the blue light is not blinking,
first ensure the air gap switch is in ON position
(right). If the blue light is still not blinking, turn
off the breaker, verify there is no power to
the Wi-Fi dimmer, switch the wires in the line
