Find X-Ray Mask Values
WHY DO THIS?
Mask files capture the usable part of the detector so only that area is displayed in
Fluoro
.
The Locus SP CCD (Charge Coupled Device) contains an array of 2300 by 3500 pixels. Due to the
size and variance between fiber optic tapers, there are a limited number of the CCD's pixels that
will actually receive photons from the x-ray tube. It is for this reason that the screen is masked.
Masking is the ability of the camera to only save the detection of photons for a specified range (i.e.
same idea as cropping a picture). We want to avoid including pixels which will not receive photons
because pixels that do not receive light have no value but they will increase file size, correction and
assembly time.
1.
Open
Windows Explorer
and navigate to D:/. Copy the
calib
folder and rename it
original_calib
. Navigate to C:/ and copy the
translations
folder and rename it
original_translations
2.
Install the Bebe grid using the white nylon
screws and washers, and ensure the filter
wheel setting is set to 4. Don’t tighten the
screws on the bebe grid too much as it will
distort the image. Tighten it just so that the
grid does not move. Centre the grid on the
detector.
3.
Warm-up the X-Ray Source using the
System Warm-Up
application as follows:
-
right-click the Warm-Up icon in the task bar and select the
<=10 Minutes to Scan
option
-
once the cycle has finished (approximately 14 minutes), right-click the icon again and
select
Scan Mode
.
The
System Warm-Up
application can be re-initialized by double-clicking on
WarmupApp.exe
in C:\Program Files\GE Medical Systems\eXplore Utilities\
