The follower cable should be replaced only if it shows signs of wear or deterioĆ
ration, and can only be removed usingthe procedure in Sections 4Ć3Ć5 and
4Ć3Ć6.
The main and safety cable should be replaced periodically as defined in the Planned
Maintenance section of the Operator Manual, or where elsewhere directed.

1. Set the main power circuit breaker to OFF.
2. Position horizontal arm and tube at least 90 degrees out of park, so that it can
be positioned at lowest possible position.
3. Raise horizontal arm to a comfortable workingheight.

Use a C-clamp to hold horizontal arm in position duringthis procedure if
desired. Protect the column from clampingdamage if this is done.
4. Remove column cap.
5. Remove four bindinghead screws holdingcover plate on the carriage assembly.
