Select the StorView License Manager you want to install. Press

for Local
or
2
for Global, then press

Important
The Local manager is provided free,
without the requirement of a serial
number or activation code. It lets you
configure, manage, and monitor your
storage system attached to your local
host system. The Global manager lets you
perform remote login, management and
monitoring, and monitoring failover plus
e-mail alert notifications.
The Global manager requires a serial number and activation code.

(Global manager only) Type the product serial number and activation
code.

Type your user name and password.
Important
This is the user name and password that
will be established for the Web server
software that is installed as a component
of StorView. You can use as many as 258
characters for the user name or
password, and they are case sensitive.
After the installation is complete, a message tells you that the StorView
software has started, lists the available utilities.
The following utilities are provided to manage StorView:
/opt/StorView/StartStorView
/opt/StorView/StopStorView
/etc/rc.d/init.d/StorView {start|stop}
The directory where the software installs is the
/opt/StorView
directory.

To start StorView and the Apache Web server, type
./StartStorView
.

To stop StorView and the Apache Web server, type
./StopStorView
.

To determine if StorView is running, type
ps -ef | grep -i StorView
.
Look for a running process named
StorViewServer
. There are several of
them. The Apache Web server process is named
httpd
.
The above command is the option we recommend. However, you can use
other options.
Linux also has a
pgrep
command. Type
pgrep StorViewServer
or
pgrep
httpd
and get a list of process IDs. No IDs means StorView is not running.

Start StorView by opening your Web browser and entering the IP address
of the host attached to the storage system, followed by the port number.
The format is
HTTP://127.0.0.1:9292.
or
HTTP://localhost:9292.
Removing StorView from Linux platforms
To remove StorView from Linux:

Log in as
root
.

Change directories by typing
cd /opt/StorView

From the command prompt, type
./UninstallStorView
Make sure that the processes named
StorViewServer
are no longer in the
list. Absence of these processes indicates that it is removed.
