Setup for Microsoft Windows platforms

After you have completed the hardware installation and setup (see the 
hardware setup guide), you are ready to begin the software installation. Make 
sure that your host computer meets the system requirements.

System requirements

The following are the minimum system requirements to install and use 
StorView:

■

A Gateway server with an Intel Pentium III (or compatible) processor

■

128 MB RAM

■

CD drive

■

256-color video adapter (display settings should be set to 1024 x 768)

■

Operating system - Windows 2003 (SP1 or greater).

■

Web browser software that is HTTP 1.1 compliant and that supports 
JavaScript 1.3 or later, such as Microsoft

®

 Internet Explorer (5.5 or greater), 

Netscape (7.0 or greater), Mozilla (1.1 or greater), or (Opera 7.11 or greater)

■

100 MB hard drive space

■

Network adapter or a Microsoft Loop Back Adapter software for local 
attachments when a Host Bus Adapter (HBA) is not installed

■

Gateway E-842R Series storage system

Installing on Windows platforms

Important

If you have a previous version of StorView

installed, see 

“Upgrading StorView on

Windows platforms” on page 10

To install the software:

Insert the Gateway External Backup CD (EBCD) into your CD drive. The 
autorun program automatically starts the 

Gateway Driver and Application 

Recovery

 menu.

Select the StorView software.
