Replacing the CMOS battery
Tools you need to complete this task:

To replace the CMOS battery:

Complete the steps in
“Preparing the convertible notebook” on page 5

Open the wireless bay by following the instructions in
“Replacing the IEEE 802.11 wireless
. If your convertible notebook has a wireless card, remove it.

Locate the old battery on the system board.

Insert the small flat-blade screwdriver or non-marring tool under the old battery and gently
pry it up until it pops out of the socket.

Make sure the positive (+) side of the new battery is facing up, then press the battery into
the socket until it snaps into place.

If the convertible notebook has wireless networking built in, replace the wireless card by
following the steps in
“Replacing the IEEE 802.11 wireless card” on page 16

Replace the wireless bay cover by following the steps in
“Replacing the IEEE 802.11 wireless
