Place the PCI riser assembly on a stable, static-free surface and add or remove PCI
expansion cards as necessary.

Lower the PCI riser assembly straight down into the server chassis, aligning the hooks
on the back of the riser assembly with the notches in the back of the chassis, then
press firmly to seat the PCI riser assembly into the slots in the system board.

Follow the instructions in “Closing the server case” on page 46 .
Removing and installing a PCI riser connector
Included with your server were two PCI riser connectors:
■
A full-height PCI-Express riser with two PCI-Express x4 slots
■
A full-height PCI-X riser with one PCI-X slot
PCI riser connectors can be replaced if one fails or if you require a different option.
Important To eliminate the possibility of installing the replacement connectors
on the wrong side of the PCI riser assembly, replace one PCI riser
connector at a time.
