Installing drives
Your server’s basic configuration includes one CD or DVD drive and one USB 3.5-inch
diskette drive (included with the accessories and not installed in the server). Your server
also has two additional 5.25-inch drive bays (if your server is equipped with the LCP panel,
only one additional 5.25-inch drive is available).
Your server can have one of the following hard drive configurations:
■
As many as six, hot-swap SATA (standard) or SCSI (optional) drives in one drive bay
■
As many as four, hot-swap SCSI drives in an optional second drive bay (with SCSI
option)
As you prepare to install drives, remember:
■
Do not use the top 5.25-inch drive bay for drives which have electronic
components exposed on the top. Drive mounting rails at the top of the bay may
damage any exposed electronic components.
■
Before you install a drive, see the drive’s documentation for information on
configuring the drive, setting drive jumpers, and attaching cables.
