Restarting your server
If your server does not respond to keyboard or mouse input, you may have
to close programs that are not responding. If closing unresponsive programs
does not restore your server to normal operation, you may have to restart the
server.
To close unresponsive programs and restart Windows 2000 Server:

Press C
TRL
+A
LT
+D
EL
. A window opens that lets you close a program that
is not responding.

Click
Task Manager
, then select the program that is not responding.

Close the program by clicking
End Task
.

If the server does not respond, turn off the server power, wait ten seconds,
turn the power on again.
As a part of the regular startup process, a program to check the disk status
runs automatically. When the checks are finished, Windows starts.
Important
If the server does not turn off immediately, you may need
to hold the power button down for a few seconds to turn
the server off.
