Replacing the processor

To replace the processor:

Remove the side panel by following the instructions in
.

Remove the bezel by following the instructions in
“Removing the front bezel” on page 124
.

For more stability, place your computer on its side. To avoid scratching the case, place it
on a towel or other non-abrasive surface.

Remove the fan assembly by squeezing it slightly (top to bottom) and pulling it away from
the case.
5
Lift the 5.25-inch component bay from the chassis to remove it.
6
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Tools
You need a Phillips screwdriver to replace the processor.
Caution
Be careful not to pull or damage the hard drive power and data cables when
you remove the metal reinforcing beam/hard drive assembly.
