Photoelectric smoke alarms are designed to detect visible particles (associated with slow smouldering fires). Home 
fires develop in different ways and are often unpredictable. For maximum protection against fast flaming fires and slow 
smouldering fires, both ionisation and photoelectric alarms should be installed.
