Changing the standard mode of the Service port
The
Service
port of the KVM switch can be used both for operating the setup menu
and for issueing monitoring informations (see page 16).
The
Setup Menu
mode is enabled in the default settings of the KVM switch. In this
mode, the
Setup Menu
is immediately displayed in the terminal emulator after a ses-
sion is established with the KVM switch.
If you primarily use the
Service
port for switching the active channel via a serial device,
it is recommendable to enable the
Monitoring
mode.
How to choose the mode which is to be enabled when booting the
KVM extender:

Depending on the purpose of use, the KVM extender distinguishes
between the modes listed below.

1. Use the terminal emulator to establish a connection to the KVM switch.
If the setup menu is not displayed, the
Monitoring
mode of the service port is
enabled. Enter »

« to switch to the setup menu.
2. Use the
Arrow

Arrow
keys to select
Service Port Config
and press
Enter
.
3. Use the
Arrow
or
Arrow
keys to select the row
Mode
.
4. Press the
Space
key (repeatedly) to choose between the following options:
Setup Menu
use the service port to operate the setup menu
Monitoring
use the service port to issue monitoring information
5. After having selected your desired settings, press
Q
to leave the dialog.
6. Press the
S
key to save your settings.
