Calculating articulator settings
The calculation of articulator settings is not available when the application has been started from
GAMMA Dental Software. In that case, the settings can be calculated in the accompanying
analysis application.
Semi- or fully adjustable articulators can have their simulated movements adapted to the actual move-
ments of the lower jaw. For this purpose, such articulators allow the user to set the angle of the guid-
ance tracks in the two spatial planes that define the movement (sagittal and transverse plane). These
are referred to as sagittal condyle inclination (SCI, formally HCI) and transversal condyle inclination (TCI,
also Bennett) respectively. Some articulators also allow the shape of the recorded curve to be approxim-
ated with differently curved inserts that are based on naturally occurring curve shapes, all with the goal
to achieve the best possible reproduction of the actual recordings.
To be able to calculate these articulator settings, the software recalculates the recorded curves from the
actual flag distance to the intercondylar distance of the articulator beforehand. The recordings displayed
by the application are always in already recalculated form.
Before calculating the articulator settings, make sure
that you have selected the correct type of articulator
(refer to chapter "Setting the articulator
"). You can
display the calculated settings by clicking the button
Ar-
ticulator
on the left border of the window.
By default, all available protrusion and mediotrusion
curves will be used for calculation. You can exclude indi-
vidual curves by clicking the buttons on the left border of
the window. If multiple curves of one type are selected,
an average of these curves will be used. If certain values
cannot be calculated, the corresponding field in the table
of results will be empty.
As an alternative to the tabular display of articulator set-
tings, a graphical display is provided for certain types of
articulators. You can change between the display style
via the menu
Settings
.

Condylar settings
The tabular view of articulator settings is usually comprised of the following tables, all of which concern
the settings of the condylar elements of the articulator:
