Essentials Guide
Pin-Diode Programming
STOP PC
Selecting a STOP PC (packed cells stop) ends the protocol after the Supernatant-
Out operation of the cycle in which it is programmed. The audible alarm sounds (if
turned on) and the STOP RESET light illuminates. Press the STOP RESET button
to return to the Ready status. Use STOP PC for protocols requiring a more
concentrated ending cell product.
VALVE
Select valve 1, 2, or 3 by inserting a pin in the appropriate VALVE socket. The
selected valve opens during the Agitate/Wash-In operation. Only one valve opens at
a time during the Agitate/Wash-In operation. If multiple valves or no valves are
programmed to open, the COBE 2991 goes into a Hold status at the beginning of
the Agitate/Wash-In operation.
See “Programming a Hold at the Beginning of the Agitate/Wash-In Operation” on
page 5-5.
STOP RC
Selecting a STOP RC (resuspended cells stop) ends the protocol after the
Agitate/Wash-In operation of the cycle in which it is programmed. The audible
alarm sounds (if turned on) and the STOP RESET light illuminates. Press STOP
RESET to return to a Ready status.
The Stop RC is typically used in protocols requiring the cells in the cell processing
bag to be resuspended.
The Stop RC is used in conjunction with programming no valves to open during
the Agitate/Wash-In operation. This allows you to monitor the volume of fluid
added to the cell processing bag. See “Programming a Hold” on page 5-5.
RCO
Select RCO (red cell override) for a particular cycle by inserting a pin into the RCO
socket.
RCO is the delay interval between the time that RBCs are detected by the RCD and
the time the Supernatant-Out operation is halted. The RCO option is used to
discard a volume of unwanted RBCs following cell detection based on the SUPER
OUT RATE and RCO timer setting.
See “RED CELL OVERRIDE (in Seconds)” on page 3-11 for information on the
RCO timer.
STO
Unused pins can be stored in the STO (storage) column.
Caution:
For protocols that end with resuspended cells, the Agitate/Wash-In
