STOP SELECT
STOP SELECT is used to program a CALL stop and/or program the end of a
protocol. (A CALL stop is not necessarily the end of a protocol.) A stop is
programmed by pressing the appropriate STOP SELECT key. The following
options are available:
•
CALL
. Selecting a CALL stop places the COBE 2991 in Hold status prior to
activating the hydraulic pump for the Supernatant-Out operation of the cycle
in which it is programmed. The HOLD light illuminates, the centrifuge
continues spinning, the SOV or collect valve opens, the primary audible alarm
sounds (if turned on), and the secondary audible alarm sounds. To proceed
with the program, press the CONTINUE button.
The CALL stop option is used most frequently to “call” the operator to
monitor the flow of supernatant/fluid from the cell processing bag.
•
P.C.
Selecting a P.C. (packed cells) stop ends the protocol at the end of the
Supernatant-Out operation of the cycle in which it is programmed. The
primary audible alarm sounds (if turned on) and the STOP RESET light
illuminates. To return to a Ready status, press the STOP RESET button.
A CALL stop may be combined with a P.C. stop allowing you to monitor the
final Supernatant-Out operation.
The P.C. stop is typically used in protocols requiring a more concentrated
ending cell product.
•
R.C.
Selecting an R.C. (resuspended cells) stop ends the protocol at the end of
the Agitate/Wash-In operation of the cycle in which it is programmed. The
primary audible alarm sounds (if turned on) and the STOP RESET light
illuminates. To return to a Ready status, press the STOP RESET button.
A CALL stop should be combined with an R.C. stop so that you can monitor
the addition of processing/wash solution during the final Agitate/Wash-In
operation.
The R.C. stop is typically used in protocols requiring cells in the cell
processing bag to be in a resuspended form.
The R.C. stop can also be used in conjunction with programming no valves to
open. See “Programming a Hold at the Beginning of the Agitate/Wash-In
Operation” on page 4-6.
