Firmware Upgrades
The programming inside your G-tech is referred to as “firm-
ware.”
As part of our ongoing commitment to you, the enthusiast,
we are constantly updating the firmware.
As a G-tech owner, you are entitled to free upgrades and
improvements for the life of the product.
Upgrading the firmware is a straightforward process. You will
need Internet access in order to download the new firmware
from the Tesla Electronics Inc. website.
1. Determine the version of firmware you have installed
on your G-tech (“Displaying Firmware Version” on
page 115).
2. Check the Tesla Electronics Inc. website

) for information on support
and firmware downloads.
3. If the website has a newer version of firmware, down-
load it from the website and follow the instructions
included with it to re-program your G-tech with the
new firmware.
Battery Replacement
The G-tech contains a small internal battery that powers its
internal clock when no external power is applied.
The battery will last several years, but at some point the G-
tech’s internal battery may need replacing.
If the G-tech loses the current date/time when you power it
off and then on again, the battery needs replacing. You can
determine whether the battery is dead by going into
Config-
uration Mode
and going into the “Set Date and Time” menu
(p. 18). If the date is set to Jan. 1 2002, 1:00 am, it means the
battery needs replacing.
