Echo Averaging
The echo averaging function allows you to change the brilliance of targets in sea clutter,
which makes it easier to discriminate small targets from sea clutter.
Note 1:
Do not use the echo averaging function under heavy pitching and rolling; loss
of targets can result.
Note 2:
This function requires heading signal and position information. If either signal is
interrupted, the echo averaging function is automatically disabled.
Before using the echo averaging function, be sure to set sea clutter to the
level where a little sea clutter is shown on the screen, with the sea clutter
reduction function.
Echo averaging: Off
Echo averaging: On
[Off]: Turns off the echo averaging function.
[On]: Discriminates targets from the sea surface and reduces the glow of
unstable echoes.
There are three ways to access the echo averaging function.
Using the InstantAccess

Bar
Tap [
▶
] on the left side of the screen to open the InstantAccess
TM
Bar, then tap [ECHO
AVERAGE]. The echo averaging function switches between [On] and [Off] with each tap.
Note:
This method is allowed only when [Func 1 Setup] or [Func 2 Setup] in the
[OTHERS] menu is set to [Echo Average].
Using the menu
Touch control:
1.
Press the
MENU/ESC
key to open [MENU].
2.
Tap [ECHO ADJ].
3.
Tap [Echo Average].
The [On]/[Off] selection box appears.
4.
Tap [On] or [Off].
5.
Tap [x] on the title bar to close [MENU].
Key control:
1.
Press the
MENU/ESC
key to open [MENU].
2.
Select [ECHO ADJ] with the arrow keys, then press the
ENTER
key.
