Notices regarding the fish size graph
• Echo intensity depends on fish species. When the fish length differs between the
indicated length and the actual length, you can compensate the difference on the
[Calibration] menu (see section 4.7.5).
• The usable range is 2 m to 200 m. However, if the zero line is disabled (see page 4-
14), fish size cannot be measured within the disabled area. Further, the measure-
ment range can be affected by transducer model, installation method and sea con-
ditions.
• In a school of fish, the echoes overlap. This causes a greater margin of error in fish
size measurement.
• The [DATA] window shows the reliability of fish data in one of three colors, based
on the reliability of the sensor data. The colors and their meaning are listed in the
table below.

How to set the method of measurement
The FSS-3BB has the four methods of fish size measurement described below.
• [Entire Area]: Measures all detected fish.
• [Specific Range]: Measures the detected fish within a specific depth range.
• [Bottom Trace]: Measures the detected fish near the bottom.
• [Specific Area]: Measures the detected fish within the area specified.
To select, or change, the method of measurement, do the following:
1. Click the [Sounder] icon (
) from the InstantAccess bar™ to show the [Sounder]
menu bar, then click the [Fish Size Measurement] icon (
) to show menu op-

Color
Meaning
Green
