4.6.1

Sounder menu

You can adjust several echo display settings for the external sounder from the [Sound-
er] section of the [External Echo Sounder] menu. To adjust settings for the FCV-38, 
see section 4.2.

HF and LF menus

Menu item

Description

[Interference]

Rejects interference from other equipment. See 
section 1.10.

[Smoothing]

Smooths echo presentation when enabled. Turn smooth-
ing on when echoes appear "spotty" or "jagged". See 
section 1.11.

[Clutter]

Low intensity "speckles" caused by sediments in the wa-
ter or noise, may appear over most of screen. These 
speckles can be suppressed by adjusting the [Clutter]. 
See section 1.12.

Menu item

Description

[TVG Level]

Adjusts the TVG (Time Varied Gain) level. See 
section 1.27.

[STC]

Sensitivity Time Control. Remove unwanted echoes near 
the surface. Use this function when you want to see fish 
near the surface clearly.
Sets the STC value according to your requirement. A set-
ting of [0] disables the STC.

Note: 

A high STC setting can erase fish echoes. It is rec-

ommended to watch your display when adjusting the 
STC.
