Explanations on waypoint settings
The followings are about only the items which have
not explained yet. [WAYPOINT SETTINGS] menu
will appear from the [ROUTES/WAYPOINTS]
o
[WAYPOINT SETTINGS].
[BEARING TO WAYPOINT]: The bearing display
can be selected from [RELATIVE] or [TRUE].
[RNG & BRG MODE]: When a destination is se-
lected, the distance and bearing will be displayed
on the upper side of display unit. [GREAT CIR.] or
[MERCATOR] can be selected as a method of cal-
culating the bearing and distance. The calculation
method selected with this menu will be adopted to
the calculation of total distance of route.
[GREAT CIR.]: This course line is the shortest
course between two points on the surface of the
earth, like stretching a piece of string between two
points on earth. Frequent bearing changes are required to navigate by this method.
For long-range navigation, divide the Great Circle route into several routes, and navi-
gate each route by rhumb Line.
[MERCATOR]: This method calculates the range and bearing between two points
drawn on a nautical chart. Since the bearing is kept constant it is ideal for short-range
navigation.
[WPT ARRIVAL TIME]: Select the information to display when setting the destination.
[TTG]: Time to go to the destination.
[ETA]: Estimated time of arrival.
[WAYPOINT OVERWRITE]: Select to show the confirmation message or not when
using the same name to the existing waypoint name.
[WPT NAME ZERO DISPLAY]: Select the way of displaying the waypoint ([HIDE “0”]
or [ALL “0”]). If the waypoint name use only numerals, 0 will not be displayed when
[HIDE “0”] is selected.
