The HDD Subsystem

8.1.2

Hard Disk Drives

The hard disk drives which can be ordered for the server are supplied already
mounted in the hard disk drive modules. The hard disk drive modules are
equipped with a status and an error indicator. Free bays are provided with a
dummy module.

CAUTION!

Only a service technician may remove a hard disk drive from the HDD
module.

Function of the Indicators

Green indicator
The green indicator (LED) lights when the hard disk is accessed. You may not
replace the hard disk drive at this time!

Orange indicator
The orange indicator flashes when, in conjunction with a RAID controller, the
configuration is being determined or a rebuild is being done. You may not
replace the hard disk drive at this time!

The orange indicator stays bright if the hard disk drive is deactivated and/or
defective and can be replaced.
