CHAPTER 2 General Hardware Configuration

IO_Unit

This section provides an overview of the IO_Unit. An I/O board, BMM (BMC
module), HDD, PCI cassette, and PCI-X slot are mounted in the IO_Unit, which
provides instructions to devices and inputs and outputs data:

z

The PRIMEQUEST 480 main unit contains one to eight IO_Units, and the
PRIMEQUEST 440 main unit contains one to four IO_Units.

z

SCSI, USB (USB 2.0), and COM ports are provided as the external interfaces.

z

One to four HDDs, which are hot-pluggable, can be mounted.

z

Up to four PCI cards, which are hot-pluggable, can be mounted.

z

Up to two BMMs, which would be IO_Unit control boards, can be mounted as
options.

z

Four PCI-Box interface ports of a serial bus can be mounted.
