Your notebook has a variety of security functions that you can use to protect your
system and your personal data from unauthorized access.
This chapter explains how to use these functions, and what the bene
fi
ts are.
Please remember that in some cases, for example, forgetting your password,
you may be locked out of the system and unable to access your data.
Therefore, please note the following information:
•
Make regular backups to external optical disks such as external hard
drives, CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray Discs.
•
Some security functions need you to choose passwords. Make a note
of the passwords and keep them in a safe place.
If you forget your passwords you will need to contact our Service Desk.
Deletion or resetting of passwords are not covered by your warranty
and a charge will be made for assistance.
Configuring the fingerprint sensor

Whether your device has a
fi
ngerprint sensor or not depends on the
device con
fi
guration which you ordered.
Once purchased, your con
fi
guration cannot be changed to include the
fi
ngerprint sensor. Also, only the
fi
ngerprint sensor or palm vein sensor
can be installed when con
fi
gured, not both.
The
fi
ngerprint sensor can record the image of a
fi
ngerprint. With additional
fi
ngerprint
software, this image can be processed and used instead of a password.

Place Protect
to be able to use the
fi
ngerprint sensor (1).
Work Place Protect
can be found under Fujitsu Bonus Apps. The shortcut can be
found under
Start - Fujitsu Extras - Application
. Double click on the shortcut. A
window with a list of apps is displayed. Select
Work Place Protect
and install the
app. The software is also available on the Fujitsu Support Site.
