Device Ports
Your Fujitsu LifeBook notebook and the optional Port Replicator come equipped with multiple ports to
which you can connect external devices including: disk drives, keyboards, modems, printers, etc.
Modem (RJ-11) Telephone Jack
The modem (RJ-11) jack is used for an internal modem. To connect the telephone cable follow these steps:
Windows Vista and Windows 7:

Select [Start] > Control Panel.

For Windows Vista, select Classic View in the left pane; for Windows 7, select either Large or Small icons in the
View by: field.

Double-click Phone and Modems. You may initially need to enter your area code in order to open the Phone
and Modem Options window.

Align the connector with the port opening.

Push the connector into the port until seated.

Plug the other end of the cable into a telephone outlet.
The modem sound may be deactivated initially. To
activate modem sound, follow these steps.
Windows XP:

Select [Start] > Settings > Control Panel.

Double-click Phone and Modem Options. You may
initially need to enter your area code in order to open the
Phone and Modem Options window.

Select the Modems tab and highlight the modem.

Click [Properties].

Select the Modem tab again, then adjust the volume with
the volume slider.
