Your notebook has several security features that you can use to secure your
system from unauthorized access.
This chapter explains how to use each function, and what the bene
fi
ts are.
Please remember that in some cases, for example, forgetting your password,
you may be locked out and unable to access your data. Therefore,
please note the following information:
•
Make regular backups to external optical discs such as external hard
drives, CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray Discs.
•
Some security functions need you to choose passwords. Make a note
of the passwords and keep them in a safe place.
If you forget your passwords you will need to contact the our Service
Desk. Deletion or resetting of passwords is not covered by your warranty
and a charge will be made for assistance.

Whether or not your device has a
fi
ngerprint sensor depends on the
device con
fi
guration you have ordered.
The
fi
ngerprint sensor can record an image of a
fi
ngerprint. With additional
fi
ngerprint
software, this image can be processed and used instead of a password.

You must install the
fi
ngerprint software
in order to be able to use the
fi
ngerprint sensor (1).
To install OmniPass on your system you must run the Bonus Apps tool as detailed
in the Starting section of this manual. Once Bonus Apps have been installed, you
may be prompted to restart you system. Once your system has rebooted you will be
able to use OmniPass. If you choose not to restart immediately after installation,
OmniPass will not be available for use until the next reboot.
