Handling optical discs
Handling
Observe the following guidelines when handling optical discs:
•
Avoid touching the surface of a optical disc. Only handle optical discs by their edges.
•
Always store optical discs in their cases. This will protect the optical disc against
being covered in dust, scratched or damaged in any other way.
•
Protect your optical discs against dust, mechanical vibrations and direct sunlight.
•
Avoid storing a optical disc in areas subject to high temperatures or humidity.
You may use both 3-in. / 8-cm and 4.7-in. / 12-cm discs in the optical drive.
When using an optical disc of lesser quality, vibrations and reading errors may occur.
CD/DVD indicator
CD/DVDindicator
The CD/DVD indicator
fl
ashes when an optical disc is inserted. The indicator goes out when
the drive is ready for reading. The indicator lights up when the drive is being accessed.
You may only remove the optical disc when the indicator is unlit.
If the CD/DVD indicator does not go out after a optical disc has been inserted, but
instead continues to
fl
ash, this means that the drive cannot access the optical disc.
Either the optical disc is damaged or dirty or you are using a optical
disc that the drive cannot read.
