Introducing and Preparing the Library
2-6
C144-E072-01EN
The following procedure explains the wiring of fiber channels among the host,
hub/switch, and library.
Remarks:
To use a hub or switch, see the user's manual for the product to be
used.
1)
Make sure that the library and host are not active and the library is not connected to
the host.
2)
Make sure that the required software is installed.
3)
Turn off the hub or FC switch. If the host is connected to a network, contact the
system administrator before turning off the power.
4)
Mount the host adapter on the host computer. To prevent electrostatic discharge
(ESD), follow the correct procedure. When removing an internal component, be sure
to wear the antistatic wrist strap and use the antistatic mat.
5)
Connect the FC interface (or interfaces) of the library to the host, hub, or switch.
6)
If there is an FC switch, turn it on
.
7)
Connect the power cord of the library to a grounded power outlet. Turn on the
library by pressing the library's power switch. Turning on the power starts
initialization. After some minutes, the home window opens, displaying the library's
operator panel. In the home window, the status of the drive and of the library are
displayed.
Remarks:
If a model has two power sources, do not connect the two power
cords to one service outlet (power strip).
8)
Set Fibre Channel from the operator panel. For the items that must be set, see
"Checking the Library and Drive Settings."
9)
Turn on the host.
