4.8 

Cleaning the Drive Manually

Use the cleaning cartridge contained in the special cell inside the library for cleaning the
drive manually.

Remarks:

1. This operation can be performed only if the status of the drive

displayed in the home window is "Required Clean" or "Need
Clean."

2. Cleaning cannot be done if no cleaning cartridge dedicated to the

drive to be cleaned is contained in the cleaning cell.  To add a
cleaning cartridge to the cleaning cell, see 

4.9.1 "Inserting a

cleaning cartridge."

Also, cleaning cannot be carried out if the expiration dates of all
cleaning cartridges dedicated for the drive to be cleaned have
passed or an error has occurred in all cleaning cartridges.

Eject cleaning cartridges that cannot be used and then insert ones
that can be used.  (For information on the method of ejecting a
cleaning cartridge, see 

4.9.2 "Ejecting a cleaning cartridge."

)

3. A drive being cleaned is temporary placed offline.  When cleaning

is complete, the drive is automatically placed online.

Select the [Clean] button from the OPERATION menu.
