Important:

Generally, the auto-cleaning function of the backup software is
controlled by the processing time of the library. Therefore, cleaning
more often than necessary may be done, causing the cleaning
cartridge to reach the end of its service life earlier than normal.
Furthermore, the auto-cleaning function of the backup software uses
ordinary cells, reducing the cells available for data cartridges. Fujitsu
therefore recommends using the auto-cleaning function under control
of the library (the factory default is "enabled").

1.2.5.2 Manual cleaning function

The drive is cleaned directly by operations on the operator panel.

For information on the method of performing the manual cleaning from the operator
panel, see

4.8, "Cleaning the Drive Manually."
