SCSI element reservation:
This enables the host to continue
element reservation even if the power is
turned off or turned on. This function is
usually used so that only a single host
can securely access the slot or drive.
Single-end SCSI:
One type of cable whose range is
limited to short-distance
communication
Soft error: Recoverable electronic error in the
library function. This type of error is
recorded in the soft error log.
Soft key: Five buttons at the bottom of the front
panel display that are used for
command execution on the display
Swap:
Two related library operations such as
moving a tape from the slot to the drive
and then moving it back to the slot
Switch:
Device that provides (n x n)
interconnection so that a complete
bandwidth for communication of a port
with any other port can be obtained
even when other communications are
being conducted.

Tape/Tape cartridge:
Media used by the library to record data
from the host computer
TCP/IP:
Abbreviation of Transmission Control
Protocol/Internet Protocol
Terminator:
Electronic device for stabilizing the bus
signal by connecting to the SCSI bus

Web-based library administrator:
Explains the interface used to monitor
and manage the library via the remote
management card on a network
Wide SCSI:
68-pin connector. For practical use, the
single-end and differential wide SCSI
are available.
