When the ETERNUS AF Refuses to Turn On
Check the points that are shown below. If the problem cannot be resolved, leave the ETERNUS AF alone and
contact your maintenance engineer.

Is the ETERNUS AF's power cord disconnected?

Is the main line switch of the power distribution unit turned OFF (

Is there a power failure?

When the READY LED Is Not On
For the ETERNUS AF650 S2, if more than 12 minutes (or more than 18 minutes for a configuration in which
the Deduplication/Compression function is enabled) have passed since the power of the ETERNUS AF was
turned on and the READY LED is still not on, contact your maintenance engineer.
For the ETERNUS AF650, if more than 10 minutes (or more than 11 minutes for a configuration in which the
Deduplication/Compression function is enabled) have passed since the power of the ETERNUS AF was turned
on and the READY LED is still not on, contact your maintenance engineer.

When the FAULT LED Is On
Check the points that are shown below. If the problem persists, contact your maintenance engineer.

Is the PSU switch of the power supply unit for the drive enclosure in the OFF position (

Is the main line switch of the power distribution unit turned OFF (

When the FAULT LED Blinks
A part of the ETERNUS AF requires preventive replacement. Contact your maintenance engineer.

When the DRIVE FAULT LED Is On
Check the drive status.
While the Protection (Shield) function is being used, the DRIVE FAULT LED is temporarily turned on. For de-
tails on how the Protection (Shield) function works and how to check whether it is running, refer to "Design
Guide (Basic)".
If the problem persists, contact your maintenance engineer.

When the ETERNUS AF Cannot Be Connected via a Network Service
Check the points that are shown below. If the problem persists, contact your maintenance engineer.

Is the ETERNUS AF turned off?
•
Is the LAN cable disconnected? Is the LAN cable connected to a LAN port of a controller with a MASTER LED
not turned on?
To switch the Master CM, perform one of the following procedures.

Using the FUNCTION button to switch the Master CM
Push the CM Master Change switch (MST SW) twice within three seconds during maintenance to switch
the Master CM to another controller.
