The Tri-leg Winch is designed for use with FTS tri-leg towers with mast heights up to and including 10m.
It provides the capability for a single person to safely raise and lower the mast on a tri-leg assembly.
A. SETTING UP THE TOWER/RAISING THE MAST
1) Once the legs and side frames are assembled, the
winch can be used to support the mast during
assembly and raise it into position. It replaces the
hold back cable during the setup process.
2) Release the hook used to secure the cable during
winch storage and spool out 4-5 feet of cable.
3) Insert the winch support into the top of the leg to
which the mast will be located, oriented as shown.
Refer to page 2 for a detailed image.
4) Firmly secure the bottom portion of the winch
assembly with the tie down strap as shown on p.2.
5) Attach the bottom mast section to the leg and
shackle the eye of the winch cable to the hard eye on
the mast.
6) Reduce the slack in the winch cable to support the
mast above ground level and complete mast
assembly including attaching equipment. Use the
winch spool and handle to adjust the angle of the
mast as required to aid in assembly.
7) Winch the mast to its upright position and secure
in accordance with tower assembly instructions.
8) Remove the winch.
9) Slide the large eye of the hold back cable over the
corner post and shackle the running end to the hard
eye on the mast.
