This can result in serious personal injury and damage to property.

Before starting work, switch off all devices and components involved and dis-
connect them from the grid.
▶
Secure all devices and components involved so they cannot be switched back
on.
▶
After opening the device, use a suitable measuring instrument to check that
electrically charged components (such as capacitors) have been discharged.
Preparation

Move the mains switch to the "O" position

Disconnect the mains plug

Detach all cables to the wirefeeder at the power source
IMPORTANT!
Check the rod electrode packaging to determine whether the
rod electrodes are for (+) or (-) welding.

Plug the grounding cable into either the (-) or the (+) current socket, depend-
ing on the type of electrode, and lock in place

Use the other end of the grounding cable to establish a connection to the
workpiece

Plug the bayonet current plug of the electrode holder cable into the free cur-
rent socket with the opposite polarity, according to the type of electrode, and
twist it clockwise to latch it in place

Plug in the mains plug

CAUTION!
Risk of injury and damage from electric shock.
As soon as the mains switch is in the "I" position, the rod electrode in the elec-
trode holder is live.

Make sure that the rod electrode does not touch any persons or electrically
conductive or earthed parts (e.g. the housing, etc.)
